NEWS: EU adopted contaminant MLs for cadmium and lead

The EU commission has adopted regulations notified in G/SPS/N/EU/466 (15 March 2021) amending Regulation (EC) No 1881/2006 as regards maximum levels (MLs) of cadmium and lead in certain foodstuffs that could be found on Canadian agricultural goods.

The revised MLs for products containing cadmium and lead will be applicable August 30, 2021 and August 31, 2021 respectively to third countries exporting to the EU.

  • The adopted regulation revises the MLs set for cadmium in various food stuffs found in the annex listed here.
