Trade Mission to Expo ANTAD & Alimentaria

March 4-7, 2019

The Canadian Food Exporters Association is working in partnership with the Quebec Agri-Food Export Group, Export Development Canada and the Embassy of Canada in Mexico City, to provide you with a trade mission program to Expo ANTAD & Alimentaria, Guadalajara, Mexico from March 4-7, 2019.

Expo ANTAD & Alimentaria (Asociación Nacional de Tiendas de Autoservicio y Departamentales – National Association of Self-serve Retail and Department Stores) is a trade show that is based on a national association of retailers. ANTAD & Alimentaria Mexico is the largest tradeshow in Mexico dedicated to the retail sector and it is one of the premier food and beverage exhibitions in the country, attracting top decision-making buyers. Representatives from supermarkets, department and specialty stores along with importers and distributors from Mexico and internationally attend this show in search of new and innovative consumer ready products. More than 40,000 people attend each year.

The mission will consist of:

  • A briefing session and store tours on March 4, 2019 (to be confirmed)
  • Use of the meeting rooms at the Canada pavilion for B2B meetings with Mexican importers & retailers organized by a consultant (March 5-7, 2019)
  • Product assessment by a local consultant
  • Importer profiles
  • Results evaluation and follow up

The cost to participate with the CFEA is CDN $1,335.00 for members and CDN $2,670.00 for non-members.

If you are not a CFEA member and would like to access the member rate, you can apply online for membership at https://www.cfea.com/application and pay the annual fee of CDN $565.00. Only companies producing products in Canada are eligible to participate in this event and for membership in the CFEA.

Travel/Shipment Reimbursement Details (for CFEA members only): upon completion of the event, you will be provided with a claim form to apply for the reimbursement of your travel and shipping expenses. The reimbursement will consist of 50% of an economy class airfare up to a maximum reimbursement of CDN $400.00 (maximum 1 per company), a per diem of CDN $212.50 per day up to a maximum of 5 days (maximum 1 per company) and a partial reimbursement of your sample shipment expenses (up to a maximum of $250.00).

It is important to keep the following documentation for the claim process: a copy of your airline itinerary that shows the travel dates and price paid for the ticket, boarding passes, and a shipment invoice. You will also be required to provide proof of payment (credit card statement or cancelled cheques) for all expenses. Cash payments are not permitted. NOTE: If you fly premium economy or business you will be expected to provide an economy ticket mock up along with the paid ticket and the reimbursement will be based on whichever is lower.
