Introduction and First Reading of Bill C-18, an Act to implement the Canada-Indonesia CEPA

We would like to inform you that the legislation to implement the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Canada and Indonesia, Bill C-18, was introduced in the House of Commons on December 11, 2025.

This marks an important step in Canada’s domestic process to ratify the agreement. Both Canada and Indonesia must complete their respective legislative processes before the agreement can enter into force.

The implementation of the CEPA will help advance Canada’s trade diversification objectives and strengthen our economic relationship with Indonesia.

You can follow its progress here: C-18 (45-1) – LEGISinfo – Parliament of Canada.

The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service website has recently been updated with a summary of CEPA benefits for the Canadian agriculture and agri-food sector:  Benefits and opportunities for the Canadian agriculture and agri-food sector – Tradecommissioner.gc.ca
