Issue with the inspection process for imported products of animal origin at the Brussels International Airport

It has come to our attention that the inspection process for imported products of animal origin is experiencing temporary issues at the Brussels International Airport (BRU), located in Brussels, Belgium.

Shipments of products of animal origin, such as live lobsters, that arrive at the Brussels International Airport may be at risk of needing to be shipped back to origin or destroyed. It is unknown at this time when the issue may be resolved. We recommend Canadian exporters work with their Belgian importers to find alternative solutions prior to shipping, which could include other airports in Belgium that are authorized to handle these types of commodities.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please feel free to contact us should you have any further questions.
