Pork exports from Canada to India

News from AAFC’s Market Access Secretariat

Update – April 11, 2023 – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recently been informed by India that the implementation of the new food safety certification requirements for the export of pork and pork products from Canada to India, that were set to be implemented on March 1, 2023, has been delayed until further notice.

In the interim, the CFIA will continue to issue the existing certificate for export of pork and pork products originating from establishments eligible to export to India.

Please be advised that all licensed federally registered establishments can apply for eligibility to export pork and pork products to India, provided all certification requirements are met.

Additionally, all slaughter and processing establishments must request to be registered with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) through their local CFIA inspector. The list of federally pork establishments that are currently registered with FSSAI can be found in Annex 1, List of Establishments Approved to Export to India.
