On September 29th at 2pm ET, we’ll be hosting a webinar on market diversification through trade agreements. We’ll explore various markets, including Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, and others, and discuss how they can help diversify your portfolio beyond North America.

Given the ongoing threat of tariffs from the current US administration, Canadian agri-food exporters should consider diversifying their markets to reduce reliance on the US. Our existing Free Trade Agreements provide an ideal framework for this diversification.

Several studies indicate that Canadian exporters are underutilizing the benefits of CETA, our free trade agreement with the 27-member European Union, and the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which opens doors to 11 Pacific countries.

This session will focus on:

• The basic principles of product-specific rules of origin, how they work and how to prepare the relevant compliant documentation
• The countries and markets involved
• The differences between our various FTA’s when it comes to their Rules origin, where to find the information and how to decipher it
• Deep dive into CETA, our FTA with the European Union and its subsidiary agreement with the United Kingdom
• In depth look at the Trans-Pacific Partnership with 10 Pacific countries including Japan, Singapore, Australia, etc.
• Explore our other agreements with smaller countries like Switzerland, Norway, Panama, etc.
• Our latest one with Indonesia, to be implemented later this year, and the prospects of other agreements under negotiation
